6/28/2023 0 Comments Moto x pure musicAssist adjusts your Moto X Pure Edition settings depending on where you are or what you're doing. These features are accessible under a single Moto app, which has Moto Assist, Actions, Voice and Display. Second, while you won't have a manufacturer user interface overlaid on top of the phone in the same way TouchWiz and Sense skins Samsung and HTC devices, respectively, Motorola still included some useful features under its Moto app. Instead, you'll get the usual set of Google apps such as the Chrome Web browser, Gmail, YouTube and more. Don't be too disappointed, though - if you want an untouched Android experience, Motorola's Moto line comes pretty close.įirst, because you can get it unlocked, you won't get any carrier bloatware and branding. Software and featuresĭespite its name, the Moto X Pure Edition isn't exactly the "purest" Android device, at least not compared to the Google's own Nexus family (understandably) and Play Edition handsets (though the latter has ceased all production since January). But with the latter, hues are more saturated and richer. Under normal mode, colors are already bright and vivid. There's also a new setting under Display where you can choose between two color modes: normal or vibrant. I had no problems reading text and playing games, and streaming YouTube videos and watching the HD movie "Gravity" looked smooth and crisp. The screen has a wide viewing angle and is responsive to the touch. I passed it around for several opinions, and even tall people with large hands noted problems reaching for the notifications shade with their thumbs. That means - for some - it won't fit in your front pockets easily and you can't maneuver it with one hand comfortably. Though it isn't as big as the Google Nexus 6 (which was manufactured by Motorola before Google sold it off to Lenovo), the size jump still makes it notably bigger than the previous 5.2-inch Moto X. 6.1 by 3 by 0.4 inches (154 by 76 by 11.1mm)Ĭompared to the 2014 Moto X, Motorola increased the Moto X Pure Edition's display by half an inch, bumping up the device's overall footprint. That's a total cost over 24 months of AU$1,992 and AU$2,472 respectively. It's available on both the AU$80 and AU$100 plans, for AU$3 of monthly handset repayments. The Moto X Play is slightly smaller at 5.5 inches if you fancy something a little more manageable in hand.In Australia the Style is exclusive to Vodafone and only available on contract. At 5.7 inches the X Style will simply be too big for many. The Moto X Style sports a great screen, but it's also a big one. Those with smaller hands will find the Moto X Style a bit much in the palm, and even I had to employ both hands a lot of the time to ensure the handset didn't hit the deck.īut if you're looking for a well designed, big screened smartphone without a flagship price tag the Moto X Style certainly offers a compelling argument. In the US it's called the Moto Droid Turbo 2 and considering it's one of the most durable phones on the market right now, it is actually quite well designed. Since releasing the Moto X Style, the company has also shared the Moto X Force which is designed to survive most drops and not break easily. If you're looking for something a little more durable, there's a new choice from Motorola. It's not quite Sony Xperia Z5 levels of water resistant, but it's definitely welcome. The slightly curved rear allows the Moto X Style to sit a little more snugly in the palm than the Galaxy S6 or iPhone 6S, and the soft touch rubberised back on my review unit provide a decent level of grip. That 11.1mm thickness is pretty noticeable too, especially when many smartphones now rock a sub-10mm girth, with the likes of Samsung, Sony and Apple boasting flagship handsets at less than 8mm. The sizable screen size is your first warning that this won't be a small handset and that's confirmed by its 153.9 x 76.2 x 11.1mm vital statistics. OK, there's no getting around this - the Moto X Style is a bit of a beast. ![]() ![]() With a 5.7-inch QHD display, hexa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a 21MP rear camera the Moto X Style sounds like a pretty good deal - but has Motorola been able to deliver? Let's find out. It is priced comfortably lower than its rival 2015 flagships however, although it's a little pricier than the disruptive OnePlus 2. Motorola really wants you to make this phone yours, but if you walk into a retailer you won't get such options - black, champagne and white will be the only options that greet you.
